I was looking into trying to obtain a loan for some home improvements that I want to make on my house and I came across this Prosper Peer to Peer Lending site. Does anyone have any experience with this site? Is it legit? It is asking for my bank account information during the sign up process and this makes me nervous. I don’t see why they need that information now since I haven’t even gotten a loan yet. I am just looking for some reassurance that this is a legit site and would like to know others experiences with it who have used this.

Prosper is legit. Although I have never dealt with them, I have been hearing about it for about a year.
Now, put yourself in the other person’s shoes. Would you lend money to someone without knowing their banking history? They want to rate you before they lend you money - not after.
Your interest rate will be dependent on the score they give you. The fees you pay them are high, and expect to pay double what you pay a bank.
